About
I am a Sri Lankan Tamil psychotherapist in my sixth year of practicing post qualification and have worked with an array of clients. I started off my career working with young adults and children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). My experience with this client group led me to complete my training in Counselling Psychology where I became a qualified and accredited psychotherapist. My clinical experience to date include the National Health Service (NHS) and the charity sector working in both English and Tamil.
Therapy, for me, offers a great exploratory space whether you are trying to understand your mental health diagnosis better or whether you are trying to make sense of your childhood experiences and its impact on present life. A reflective space can often be helpful to think out loud.
Coming from a Sri Lankan Tamil background , I often found it difficult to find a therapist who was culturally sensitive and understood the complexities involved with being from a migrant family who had fled a civil war. With these experiences in mind, my practice actively looks to understand the intergenerational trauma and the impact of straddling Eastern and Western cultures.
I hold a warm and judgement free space in therapy for you to explore what your own needs are. I work with an integrative approach to provide the best and most suitable approach for you.
